Share the Knowledge

Each of us is, from time to time, forced to look up how to do something in a book. The problem is, which book?

I invite each of you to bring the desktop publishing reference books you love or loathe to the meeting, and to give a brief presentation (less than 2 minutes) on why the book is a wonder or a clunker. And yes, the manuals, help files, tutorials, and etc. that come with the application, printer, scanner, or whatever are fair game too.

The plan is to have intermissions every half hour or so so people can actually thumb through the books that interest them and see whether they are appropriate for their needs.

This is not a requirement, but I would really appreciate it if you would write a very short mini-review of at least one book, which I could combine with others and publish on the GDTPUG web site. It would be a valuable resource for everyone.

Remember, the meetings are free and open to the public. Please bring a friend.

Please send email to gdtpug@troutcom.com with suggestions for topics you are interested in seeing covered. Or even better, volunteer to give a presentation!

The Goleta DeskTop Publishing Users Group is a SIG (Special Interest Group) of the Santa Barbara PC Users Group. We are not platform specific: some members have PCs, some have Macs, some have both. Linux and other systems sprinkled in there for good measure. We focus on the issues of publishing in all forms, be it on paper, web, CD-ROM, or some other medium.
