December 7 -- Owner's Perspectives on Digital Cameras
Meryl Wieder and Bryan Mumford will share their experiences about digital photography, as well as show what they have been doing.
Meryl has been having fun documenting an artist friend's portfolio of art, which she put on CD. She has also been taking lots of pictures of orchids and other flowers, many of which are stunning.
Bryan got his camera primarily to make web-compatible pictures of his products, but the fun hasn't been limited to only that. Recently he has been having a ball making panoramas of everything in sight. All it takes is inexpensive software and a tripod -- no, you don't need an expensive indexing head.
Some of the best tips I have gotten from them is the stuff you won't learn from the salesman -- strategies for not only taking the pictures, but storing, organizing, retrieving, improving, and using them in useful and creative ways.
Please send email to gdtpug@troutcom.com with suggestions for topics you are interested in seeing covered. Or even better, volunteer to give a presentation!
The Goleta DeskTop Publishing Users Group is a SIG (Special Interest Group) of the Santa Barbara PC Users Group. We are not platform specific: some members have PCs, some have Macs, some have both. Linux and other systems are sprinkled in as well for good measure. We focus on the issues of publishing in all forms, be it on paper, web, CD-ROM, or some other medium.
