January 14 -- PhotoShop Mini-tutorial

We'll do a mini-tutorial on how to prepare images (primarily photographs) for publication. Although I'll be using Adobe PhotoShop, the concepts and most of the tools are available in most modern photo-manipulation programs.

The following topics will be covered:

• How to determine the proper resolution and file format,
• How to determine the proper highlight and shadow values,
• How to adjust a non-optimum image (too flat, too light, red-eye, etc.) so it looks good,
• A little photomagic to remove unsightly blemishes (ranging from dust and scratches to power poles or your ex).
