GDTPUG Meeting Thursday
December 2, 1999
7pm Goleta Public Library
Creating a family record of image and text files on a CD
presented by Meryl Wieder
Meryl Wieder will informally discuss her own experiences in creating a CD containing 18 PowerPoint slide shows of scanned images plus a multitude of document files created by a local writer (e.g. "Tales of Wales.")
Meryl: "I was impressed by the family photo album created by Dana Trout. I decided to create a CD album for husband and wife (writer & artist) friends in order to find out for myself what is needed (equipment, media) and what kinds of everyday work decisions will create an easier, more efficient way of proceeding: e.g. creating a file-naming protocol, planning and evolving the overall structure of folders as an "outline," choosing or merging alternative ways of organizing information,--topic vs. timeline, inserting sound bytes, etc." I applied Dana's lesson in using the Actions feature in Photoshop to batch resize the retouched images, and then save copies of the *.psd files in *.tif and *.jpg format for the archives for other uses. I will also share what did not work (and I could not get to work)."
Remember, the meetings are free and open to the public. Please bring a friend.
